Nightingale: Ready, Steady, Cook!

Held in the autumn at the same time as harvest festival, British Food Fortnight is the biggest annual, national celebration of British food and drink. This year, British Food Fortnight is 19th September 2020 – 4th October 2020.
Since its beginnings in 2002, British Food Fortnight has become an opportunity for those who work with any aspect of food and drink, to come together and promote the benefits of buying and eating from our home produced British larder. At Nightingale we have been learning about British Food Fortnight and what eating well means for our health and wellbeing.
 
In year 6 this week we learnt about the importance of buying British and about ‘traditional’ British food. After much discussion and research we worked together to create presentations for the rest of the school to watch to explain the importance of British Food Fortnight. Some of us were a little nervous speaking in front of the class but we tried our hardest and succeeded together!
 
To celebrate we wanted to see if you could help us! We are running a competition where we would love families to send in to us their favourite recipes that they enjoy at home.
You Can:
  • Draw and colour your recipe
  • Write instructions on how to make it
  • Write a page from a recipe book
  • Draw all of the foods that go into your recipe.
We know how diverse Nightingale is and how our children come from many different cultures. We would love to create a recipe book so that we can share them across school and maybe you can try some of your friends favourite meals.
