Just a Drop Fundraiser
Tuesday 12th February 2019 was ‘Just a Drop’ day.
The ‘Just a Drop’ charity works to support communities around the world provide access to sustainable safe water solutions, sanitation facilities and improve knowledge of safe hygiene practices. Their projects provide support to communities, such as through the construction of hand-dug and drilled wells, pipelines, sand dams, rainwater harvesting systems and latrines, and hygiene and sanitation programmes and is currently focused in Cambodia, India, Kenya, Nicaragua, Uganda and Zambia.
The members of our school council decided that they would like to raise money for the Just a Drop charity after being involved in an assembly informing them of the work that the charity do. The day before our fundraising event they held their own assembly to tell everyone about the activities that we would be taking part in and why.
Each child donated money to take part in the day which included – wearing blue clothes, having their faces painted blue, various classroom activities, decorating and selling buns and biscuits and activities that involved the children experiencing how far some people must walk to get water. We had a great day and really understood the importance of giving and the contrasts of how people live around the world.
The kind donations managed to raise £306
