Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade fortnight 2019!

Miss Ahmet and school council began our fantastic Fairtrade fortnight informing key stage 1 & 2 all about why we should look out for the fairtrade logo and buy fairtrade products when possible! They told us about the ‘bean to bar’ story about where our chocolate comes from and about all of the hard work that goes into getting it to our shops.

Classes across the school have been busy using fairtrade products to – write instructions for creating a fruit salad, debating why we should buy fairtrade products, learn about where cocoa comes from and the climates in which the trees grow, taste different chocolates and discuss the importance of buying fairtrade products.

On Friday 1st March School Council caught the bus into Leeds to the Civic Hall where they attended a Fairtrade event. They listened well to speakers sharing their experience of fairtrade. There were workshop activities that they took part in with other schools and learnt lots about fairtrade.

We were fortunate enough to have visitors in to present an exciting assembly all about fairtrade. They brought in some fairtrade products that we can buy at the COOP and introduced us to Pablo the super banana. We found out about Pablo and his story from growing in Columbia to how he arrives in store.
