Year 4 had a wonderfully creative afternoon when they reproduced some Saxon spears using images of historical artefacts to create their design, then constructing the spear with cardboard, foil, cardboard tubes and tape in place of what the Saxons would have used – metal and wood. They discussed with their teachers appropriate materials and why Saxons would have used these as well as what would be reasonable to create them with in the classroom.
