Year 4 & 6 loved their sessions to gain an insight into different careers today. To enrich our Careers Related Learning curriculum we have arranged for a range of volunteers from many differnet careers to join us either virtually or in person where they present to our children about their current role, careers so far as well as what inspired them to pursue the careers that they have. The children loved finding out about what they enjoyed at school and how this linked to their jobs as well as how the Careers Skills we learn about in CRL link to real world jobs!

Year 4 were joined by Fernando Mendoza who works for Amazon Web Services. He explained about the importance of developing a network as well as his atypical route into his careers through a football scholarship in America. Kevin O'Brien joined Year 6. As a Commissioning Editor for ITV Kevin was able to capture Year 6's imagination with talk of celebrity and reality TV but crucially how and why thinking positive and developing his own communication skills supported him in working with many differnet people to bring these shows to the TV viewer!

Next week, Year 4 will delve into Engineering in an in-person Session with the founder of StraightThinkers who will talk to them all about Careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics)
