Coronavirus - Update
The Government is asking parents to keep children at home whenever possible – schools remain open only for children who need to attend.

Covid-19 (Coronavirus) – Partial re-opening

Partial re-opening from Wednesday 3 June

Who can come to school?

Following the Prime Minister’s recent announcements explaining why the Government is of the view that it is now safe for schools and academies to open for more children to attend, we are looking at partially re-opening from Wednesday 3 June, for children in Year 1 and from Monday 8th June will be open for Year 6.

Currently, the academy is just open for children of critical workers and vulnerable pupils. This arrangement will still continue moving forward.

We are looking forward to welcoming back our children; however, we also recognise that parents may be anxious about this. For the avoidance of doubt, only children in Year 1 and Year 6 can attend school at this time and it is entirely your decision whether or not to send your child. There will be no penalising of children or families if parents decide not to send their children to school. To help us plan for re-opening, it would be very helpful if you could let us know your intentions.

Keeping safe arrangements

In re-opening, we can assure you that we are following the Government’s advice as the safety of our pupils and staff is paramount. However, as you are aware, it can be very difficult to keep young children apart at all times. Therefore, as also recognised in the Government’s advice, we cannot guarantee social distancing between children. Please be assured, though, we are taking measures to make the return of children and staff to the academy as safe as possible for example by teaching children in smaller groups which will become their ‘bubble’ throughout this time.

Transport, dropping off and collection

On a practical note, and in line with Government advice, when travelling to school, please walk, cycle or use a car. Public transport should be avoided where possible. Nearer the time we let you know which entrances to use, but in line with government guidance only one parent or carer will be permitted on site, there must be no gathering at school gates and parents must not enter the building unless they have an appointment.

Half-term | 25th-29th May

In order to prepare for re-opening we will be closed to all pupils for half-term 25th May – 29th May. We appreciate that this may cause some childcare issues for those of you who have been sending children into school. However, this decision has been made to give us the opportunity to ensure the academy is thoroughly clean and ready prior to opening on June 3.

Thank you. We hope you’re all keeping safe and are looking forward to seeing you as soon as we can.
