Year 6 Talk About…

It was No Pens Day Wednesday at Nightingale (fittingly it took place on a Thursday!) We used it as an opportunity to work on being able to effectively articulate ourselves to our peers. Children took this chance to speak to their classmates about a subject of their choosing. We were lucky enough to hear all about a variety of different things. Saya told us all about Islam and how Muslims celebrate at different times in the year while Isaac was able to give us a step by step account on how to achieve greatness in the world of gaming!

We were impressed with the skills our children used to engage their audience and emphasise important parts of their speech. Including utilising features of spoken language we had previously studied in Guided Reading: Intonation, tone and volume were important but we found the most crucial aspect of public speaking was appropriately selecting body language.
